Pre-Owned Versus Certified Pre-Owned Toyota Cars: What’s the Difference?

Two Classifications, Two Great Values

When you come in to Queensboro Toyota, you’ll have your pick of the litter with quality pre-owned vehicles like a pre-owned Toyota Camry. In fact, we’ve got two different categories for you to choose from: pre-owned, and Toyota Certified Used Vehicles (TCUV).

Pre-Owned Toyota Cars

Simply put, pre-owned Toyota cars are vehicles that have had one or more previous owners. We inspect every one of our pre-owned vehicles, going above and beyond other used car dealerships, making sure that it meets our exacting requirements to be available for sale on our lots. But it’s always nice to have a little extra help when inspecting a pre-owned vehicle for its quality.

Toyota Certified Used Vehicles

The TCUV is not only a vehicle that gets the once-over from us  when it hits our lots. it’s also gone through even more rigorous testing to ensure that it is at the peak of pre-owned quality. Toyota provides a slew of features to anyone that purchases a TCUV over a pre-owned Toyota. They call it the Toyota Certified Used Vehicles Advantage, and it comes with

  • A 12-month, 12,000-mile Limited Comprehensive Warranty,
  • A 7-Year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty (starting from when vehicle was purchased as new),
  • 1 Year of 24/7, 365 Roadside Assistance,
  • A Free CarFax® Vehicle History Report™, and
  • Reconditioning of the vehicle performed by trained Toyota technicians

Pre-Owned Toyota vehicles can only qualify for TCUV status if they are no more than six years off of the current model year, have less than 85,000 miles on the odometer, and have passed the thorough 160-point inspection to ensure the vehicle’s quality.

So are you ready to discover the TCUV difference for yourself? Come in to our Woodside, NY Toyota dealership today to take a Certified Used Toyota out for a test drive!

Tire getting ready to be put on a car for the season

Know Your Tires: A Primer from Your Friends at Queensboro Toyota of Woodside!

Find the Right Tires

Now that Spring feels just around the corner, it’s approaching time to de-winterize our cars and give it the maintenance it needs for making it through another rough time of year. And whether our Jackson Heights customers are driving a 2020 Toyota Camry Hybrid or a new Toyota Highlander, that starts with having the right tires for the season.

Winter Tires – Bigger is Better

The rubber in winter tires is specifically-formulated to perform best at temperatures below 45 degrees. When the weather gets warmer, the treads on the tires end up deteriorating faster. They’re also designed to have a wider and chunkier tread pattern, which can get better grip on snow-covered roads better. They also don’t function as well on wet roads as opposed to frozen ones.

All-Season Tires – The Swiss Army Tire

The all-season tire is the most popular and widely-used tire available. Its combination of fine lines in the center and broader, wider edges of the tires provide an ideal blend of water displacement. These characteristics make them perfect wet roads and general surface traction development. Additionally, they perform well in almost any weather condition.

Summer Tires – For When the Road is Calling

Lastly, summer tires are made for hot weather, even pavement, and dry asphalt. Their treads are made to grip the road and keep your vehicle in control as you drive along the track or highway. They can also come with some more advanced rain treads, allowing for superior channeling of water on the road so you’re always going to keep yourself steady.

When it’s time to check out a new set of tires, make sure to come into our Woodside, NY used and new Toyota dealership! Our service center is staffed by certified professionals who can hook you up with that’s best for you as the mercury rises this year.

Couple discussing car warranties with salesperson

Queensboro Toyota of Woodside, NY can Help You Understand Your Car Warranty

When you’re doing research on buying a car, it’s easy to get bogged down in the minutia of which vehicle is the best. All the talk of drive trains and passenger capability can overload our brains, so  when it comes to understanding the difference between the Powertrain Limited Warranty and the Basic Limited Warranty on our new or pre-owned Toyota RAV4, we can feel a little lost. So today, we want to demystify some of these concepts, and make things easier for our customers to understand.

New Toyota Car Warranties

If you buy a new Toyota Highlander from Queensboro Toyota of Woodside, you are going to be immediately covered by a minimum of four warranties, all covering very important parts of your vehicle. Let’s start at the Basic Coverage warranty. This lasts for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever milestone your Highlander gets to first. It protects all components of the Highlander other than normal wear and tear components, such as engine oil, brake pads, and filters. The Powertrain Coverage warranty protects for 60 months/60,000 miles, and covers the vital parts of your Highlander necessary for keeping it moving, like the engine, transmission, drive systems, air bags and seat belts. When the winter weather comes, you’ll be protected from the corrosive nature of road salt and rust with the 60-month/unlimited miles Rust-Through Coverage warranty, protecting against the perforation of sheet metal by corrosion. And if you end up getting a Highlander Hybrid, then you’ll also be getting a hybrid battery warranty that’s good for 120 months/150,000 miles!

Toyota Certified Used Vehicle Warranty

In short, the warranties that Toyota has in place for their vehicles are there to make you feel better about your purchase. Even if you buy a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle, you get warranties to keep you protected for years to come, thanks to a 7-year/100,000-mile warranty. When you buy from Queensboro Toyota, you buy peace of mind in your purchase just as much as you do a quality Toyota car.
